Like many businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic changed how they were able to run things, directly impacting business. Like many other Portlanders, the Byrum's had been dining at Chez José for more than two decades. However, as regulars amongst so many others, Mark and Carla had the resources and background to do something about the closure. Once they heard the news, they jumped to purchase the space and keep the legacy alive. The History Chez José has been feeding the Burlingame neighborhood in Portland Oregon for more than three and a half decades.
